15. Karkov Jail

After a whole day and night journey we "landed" at Kharkov jail.  This was transit place and very overcrowded.  It was situated on the main rail line leading to Moscow, Gorki, Kazan and over Ural mountains (which divide Europe from Asia) to place called Sverdlovsk (previously and presently called Ekaterinburg), the place where last Russian royal family were murdered.

While at this jail, because of overcrowding, for a few days we were forced to lay on the floor in corridors outside the cells where women prisoners were held.  Never in my life have I seen women behaving as badly as they did.  Being sex starved, one day after an unsuspecting guard opened the cell door, he was pulled inside and forced to have sex with them,  but not being able to satisfy all of them, was thrown out minus "family heirlooms" (was castrated).

We were glad when after a fortnight we were loaded on the train again with the same "care and comfort of previous journeys",  which this time lasted fourteen days.
